Need: With misinformation rampant, learners of all ages need to acquire media literacy skills to navigate the digital world safely.
Solution: Lamboozled! is a game where players spot the wolf in sheep's clothing while learning media literacy skills through a mystery story. Players act as news interns who fact-check articles, learning to spot issues like emotional appeals and unchecked sources. This game is currently in development at Columbia University, where I served as the narrative and learning experience designer. I translated our assets into an Articulate Storyline project as a game prototype.
Highlighted Articulate Storyline features:
Custom Animation: Creates dynamic visuals for the tutorial and conversations.
Hover Effects: Enhances interactivity and provides just-in-time scaffolding and knowledge support.
Drag-and-Drop Quizzes: Using hotspots, drag-and-drop interaction helps gamify the simulation and encourages learners to independently problem-solve.
Variables: Tracks learner name, time, and lives for a personalized gameplay experience and clear progress monitoring.
Triggers and Conditions: Multiple if-conditions are used to restrict the behaviors of triggers. These were put in place to prevent mis-interaction.
Need: Teachers College and Heidelberg School of Education joined forces to create an online media literacy course for pre-service teachers.
Solution: Our module lays the groundwork for a deep understanding of Media Literacy. We cover critical topics like Misinformation and Disinformation, the Definition of Media Literacy, and Metaliteracy.
Highlighted Design Features:
Experiential Learning: Learners analyze a screen-recorded video of media consumption before and after the module. Guided by in-video questions, they see firsthand how media literacy skills apply to daily life.
Self-Paced Learning and Assessment: Learners explore reading materials, videos, learning games, discussion prompts, and quizzes at their own pace. Regular assessments help them gauge their progress.
Teach the Teacher: We empower educators by providing personalized learning experiences. This module gives them the tools and confidence to integrate media literacy into their teaching.
My Role:
Our team collaborated to create this module, with each member contributing equally to the instructional analysis and design. I played a key role in developing a media consumption behavior video, using tools like iPhone screen recording and Adobe Premiere for video editing. Once the content was finalized, I took the lead in building the module in H5P, carefully crafting the presentation of information to enhance the learning experience.

Need: Hiking can be risky without proper knowledge of safety practices. Hikers need clear, concise, and engaging training to stay safe and enjoy their outdoor experiences.
Solution: This is an interactive training module that covers essential hiking safety tips. This module engages learners through various interactive elements, ensuring they understand and remember key safety practices.
Highlighted Articulate Storyline Features:
Animations: Used to highlight important information and guide attention to key points.
Learner Inputs: Implemented using checkboxes, and sliders to reinforce learning.
Interactive Panels: Information is presented in different formats including pop-up, flip cards etc.
I assisted Erian Gao in creating animations for this Project Management video for her Youtube Channel.
